Welcome, I’m glad you’re here.
I'm Samantha.
My work is guided by a commitment to authenticity and collective healing and liberation. This space is dedicated to supporting others in their journeys of healing, discovery, and expression through practices that have been transformative in my own life.
I believe that dedicating time and energy to personal healing enables us to dream and work toward a more free and sustainable world.
As a Black, queer, disabled practitioner, I draw from both ancient and contemporary practices from within and beyond my own lineage, seeking to honor their cultural roots and history. I also acknowledge that capitalism and colonialism inform how I access and share these practices. I invite you to learn alongside me, to share your own wisdom, and to help hold me accountable to these commitments. Together, let’s create a space of integrity, growth, and healing.
My Story
For nine years, I worked as an educator, driven by a deep awareness of the injustices and inequities in the education system. I saw firsthand how my friends and I had different access and were treated differently based on our race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, ability, and other social factors. In my teaching, I aimed to create spaces of safety, belonging, joy, and curiosity, especially for students who shared my identities and were often the only ones like them in the classroom or school community.
While I found immense joy and fulfillment in building relationships with my students and growing alongside them, I ultimately felt overwhelmed by unresolved trauma, illness, and the harsh realities of harmful systems. This prompted me to seek a new path that would allow me to center my own health and wellness. I began to ask myself, “What would it mean to organize my life around liberation?”
What I now conceptualize as Freely with Samantha is my ongoing answer to that question.
I am a 200-hour certified yoga teacher, a published writer with an MFA in poetry, and a budding practitioner of tarot and energy work. I invite you to join me on this journey and hope you find something here that resonates with your mind, body, and spirit.
With gratitude,
Samantha
